We Tried It: Free Coded by Kids Program

When I first heard about the free Coded by Kids programs, I thought it would be the perfect fit for my video game and screen-obsessed tween. So I jumped when I saw registrations open for a FREE weekend class at a local rec center.

The nonprofit tech education organization utilizes project-based learning to equip young people of all backgrounds with intermediate- to advanced-level software development, data science, and user experience design skills.

CommonSpace is the free program is designed for kids ages 8-18. With the help of instructors and mentors, CommonSpace students create websites, games, and animations that excite and inspire them. They leave the classrooms with projects they can show off to family and friends, and a skill set that they can use throughout their lives.

My tween’s work in progress
