Best Places for Tweens to Geek Out

Written by paigewolf

In 2020 it’s cool to be nerdy! Because let’s face it – we all have a bit of an inner geek! Whether your kid is super into D&D, Pokeman, Magic the Gathering, or just trying to find their tribe, here are some options for free and fun gaming around the area.

Queen and Rook Game Cafe

Queen and Rook Game Cafe offers regular events like Youth Pokeman Casual League, Magic the Gathering Open Play, and Dungeons and Dragons Leagues. The wide-open and casual vegan spot is the perfect hangout for tweens, though, a guardian should come along for sure. Check out all the events online.

Geekscapes at Field Teen Center

The Field Teen Center at Parkway Central Library offers events like Geekscapes where kids can geek out about all their favorite fandoms! Play Dungeons and Dragons, Yugi-oh, Magic the Gathering, Chess, board games, and more. Program for teens ages 12-18 only. Check out the Free Library’s schedule for gaming events throughout all the city’s public libraries!

Redcap’s Corner Gaming Emporium

This West Philadelphia tabletop gaming mecca offers a robust inventory of gaming products and a massive calendar of daily events – Star Wars, Theros, miniature models – there’s even a variety of summer camps tailored to specific interests. Learn more online.

Thirsty Dice Youth D&D Meetup

Looking to meet up with other teens or pre-teens for weekend roleplaying? Join Thirsty Dice in Fairmount for free Dungeons and Dragons’ meetups.
