For the past 50 plus years, Appel Farm Arts and Music Center has been transforming lives through the arts.
Located on 115 acres of open fields and woods in rural South Jersey, Appel Farm Arts & Music Center provides people of all ages, cultures, and economic backgrounds with a supportive, cooperative environment in which to explore the fine and performing arts.
They believe that the arts are an exciting and essential part of the learning process and that artistic talent is innate and waiting to be developed in every person. Appel Farm achieves its mission through on-site arts education programming, a world-renowned summer arts camp for children, outreach in schools and community-based partnerships.

Appel Farm Arts & Music Center began as a private summer arts camp in 1960 – the dream of musicians and professional arts educators Albert and Clare Appel. They wanted to create a summer camp where the local rural community (and their own artistically-inclined children) could learn about and participate in the arts and where they could interact with like-minded peers and mentors.

Appel Farms Summer Camp
For nearly 60 years, summers at Appel Farm have offered children ages 7-17 the chance to join a creative, nurturing community of artists from around the world in rural South Jersey. Flexible, combinable two-week session and dynamic learning programs with a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio allow campers to practice the creative process with hands-on learning and collaborative projects. A focus on camper choice, personal attention, and love of learning helps children identify and ignite their unique strengths, skills, and confidence in music, theatre, dance, color guard, visual arts, photography, video, creative writing, sports, and swim.
The camp’s mission is focusing on creative growth through the emotional safety to make mistakes (Creative ideas come from mistakes!), collaboration versus one-upmanship, freedom of activity choice through different arts disciplines, and diversity to increase the depth of learning, empathy, and artistic diversity.
