What Students Are Getting Instead
Septa Student Fare Cards are being distributed to eligible School District of Philadelphia students on the first day of school. The weekly Transpass is being phased out. That means your teen will have to hold onto the same card for the entire year.
The reusable chipped card works on a SEPTA trolley, bus or subway. The cards are free to District students and can be upgraded to be used on Regional Rail for an additional fee.
Since students need to get to school to get their card, all SEPTA buses, trolleys, trains and subways will be free to students on the first day of school.
You can find a pamphlet with all sorts of information about the cards here.
