SDP Adds Half Days to School Calendar

Early Dismissals

You need to plan for more half days if your child is a student at the School District of Philadelphia. Chief of Schools Evelyn Nunez says the 2021-2022 calendar now includes six half days which will support district wide professional development for educators so they can continue to improve their instructional practices for all students.

The addition of the half days builds on the currently scheduled full day of professional development on Monday, January 3rd. Nunez says it allows the district to continue to provide all students with the required number of instructional hours and minutes for the school year while supporting the growth and developments needs of our educators.

The new half days are:

  • Friday, November 19th
  • Friday, December 17th
  • Friday, January 21st
  • Friday, February 18th
  • Friday, March 18th
  • Friday, May 13

Nunez says the district realizes half days can create childcare challenges for families. Your child’s school will provide additional information regarding the end time for the early dismissal days, as well as the after-school extra-curricular activities and programs available on these days.
