Drexel University’s Kappa Delta Pi is excited to announce its third annual Literacy Alive! On Sunday, March 8th from 11am-3pm, join the Drexel chapter for a fun-filled day as we read Chase Learns to Share by author Cousin John! John and other local authors will be in attendance to do book readings and share in this special day. Activities for children include reading to therapy dogs, making a craft, a creative writing prompt, sports related activities, and more. A parent workshop led by Read By 4th will also be available. Our target age range for this event is K-4th grade, however younger and older students are always welcome! Plus, lunch is provided for all attendees!
Our book this year is Chase Learns to Share by Cousin John. In this short story, your child will learn about a young boy’s journey at the local playground.
Cousin John, a Philadelphia native, will be in attendance with other local authors.
Your child also will have the memorable opportunity to read to one of Drexel University’s therapy dogs
*If your child is uncomfortable with this idea, please feel free to bring their favorite stuffed animal from home instead or to skip this station.
Your child will participate in other exciting activities focused on instilling a love of reading into young readers
Parents may attend a workshop on reading strategies to implement with your child with Read by 4th
All attendees will receive a copy of Chase Learns to Share and another book to take home with them
A free lunch (pizza) and snacks will be served at the end of the day!
